What is an adjournment?

by Seth Azria on 2/05/2019
Adjournment means to postpone a court date until a later time.

In DWI and criminal cases, lawyers routinely request adjournments to give time to meet with the prosecutor, obtain a necessary document, to allow the client to complete treatment, for other good reason related to the case. Courts liberally grant adjournments for good reason.

As a client, if we tell you that your case been adjourned, it means you don't have to worry about the next court date. If we requested an adjournment to allow you to do something, please see that you do it because while courts have patience they are not endless.

Worked well with an Ontario resident and did exactly what they said were going to do; got me off a speeding ticket.
