License Restoration 2 min read

Restoring a Revoked New York Driving License

By Seth M. Azria, Esq.

1. Restore Your License Online at the NY DMV

If your New York driving license has been revoked and you have served the full revocation period, it may be restored using the NY DMV website. To be restored, you must apply to the DMV for a new driver license or privilege.

The use of the online services requires that you set up your MyDMV account at the New York State DMV.

2. Request Approval from the Driver Improvement Unit (DIU)

You may request approval online at the DMV, and the system will automatically determine if you are eligible. If you are eligible for approval, the site can issue that approval immediately online.

3. Re-Application Fees

Once approved for restoration, you may be required to pay a re-application fee. The fee is based on your specific situation:

  • $25 if you apply to restore your NYS driving privilege as an out-of-state driver, and you do not intend to apply for a NYS driver license.
  • $50 if you want to apply for a NYS driver license and your license was revoked before July 6, 2009.
  • $100 if you want to apply for a NYS driver license and your license was revoked on or after July 6, 2009.

Mr. Azria is a thorough professional that explained me the complete process up to the dismissal of my case. Shannon in the office is a true gem. The entire process was handled with complete and clear explanation in each email. Highly recommend them for your traffic issues.

Azria & Bruffett did a very professional and effective job of dealing with my (out of state) speeding ticket in upstate NY. I was going 75 in a 65 which means multiple points along with a hefty fine. Ralph Habib was able to reduce the magnitude of my ticket down to a no points, non-moving violation. The paralegal Monica coordinated all of the communications and made it a very easy process for me. Fees were reasonable and competitive with other firms I shopped around at. I would recommend them to anyone else facing ticket issues as well.

The lawyer was extremely easy to work with. He guided properly on the process. I had a speeding ticket and advised about the “ Tioga traffic diversion program” that can help get the ticket dismissed.

Would Recommend to Anyone

Seth Azria was recommended to me by a friend. I can't say enough about how well I was treated, his responsiveness, and how my case was handled. My first call to him was on 12/22/14 and we met the same day. My first and last date in court was 1/15/15. The outcome was better than I ever expected it could be and would recommend him to anyone.
