California Drivers: Impact of New York Traffic Convictions

California Assigns 1 Point for Most Tickets
California and New York have both signed the Driver License Compact so the states share information about traffic convictions. If a California driver is convicted in a New York court of any speeding ticket or most other traffic infractions, California will add one point to that driver’s California record.
For more serious offense like DWI or reckless driving, the California DMV will assign two points. Points stay on a California record for 3 years and 3 months. About CA Points
Reporting Requirement for California CDL
If you are a commercial driver in California, there appears to be a reporting requirement for every conviction. Failure to report carries large possible fines. Reporting Form.
