Nevada Drivers: Effect of New York Traffic Ticket Convictions

by Seth Azria on 2/10/2023

If you receive a traffic conviction in New York State, Nevada will be notified of the offense as both states are members of the Driver License Compact.

While out-of-state convictions will become part of your Nevada driving record, the convictions do not generate demerit points on your Nevada driving record.

If you are a Nevada driver and want to obtain a copy of your driving record, you may do so here.

Insurance Premium Increases
Most importantly, it is likely your insurance company will learn of your New York conviction and may increase your premiums or drop coverage. It remains important to mitigate the charge as much as possible.

Minimize the Effect of All Traffic Tickets
Our goal at Azria & Bruffett is to minimize the effect of your New York traffic ticket both in New York and in your home state. One important point to keep in mind is that even if you are licensed in Nevada, the New York State DMV will still fine you if you accumulate 6 points in any 18 month period - these fines are called a “Driver Responsibility Assessments.”

Best Lawyer in upstate. i got pulled over by state troopers on the way to Ithaca for speeding over 30+ speed limit. I contacted Seth Azria, and that was the best thing i did. They were able to put me in a program and bang, case dismissed with no point or fee penalties. Thank you so much. I will recommend it to anyone!!
