Florida Drivers: Impact of New York Traffic Convictions

Points in Florida if Florida Gives Points for the NY Conviction

A Florida driver will receive points on their Florida record  from a ticket in New York, if Florida assesses points for that violation.

For example, a Florida driver received a ticket in New York for speeding 86 in a 65 zone. New York would assess 6 points for that conviction and Florida would assess 4 points. As a result the Florida driver would get 4 points on their Florida record.  For a speeding violation more than 15 miles over the limit, Florida will assess 3 points.

Florida Suspensions and Points

A Florida driver license will be suspended if a driver accumulates:

  • 12 points in 12 month period; 30 day Suspension
  • 18 points in 18 month period; 3 Month Suspension
  • 24 points in 36 month period; 1 Year Suspension

I want to thank the judge and my lawyer for getting my ticket dismissed. my mentally handicapped son called me and i was worried and answered my phone as many times the police have had to respond to his home. Drivers License Revocation

Recently I lost my drivers license due to receiving multiple tickets in a six month period. Along with that I had a misdemeanor and some other points on my license record. I had received a notice from dmv and was going to have to be without my drivers license for 2 years. I got in contact with Seth Azria at the Azria Law Office to see if there was anything at all I could do about my predicament.
