For you, handling a ticket means paying the legal fee and sending the ticket. We accept credit cards online, Paypal, cash, and checks. Tickets may be faxed to (315) 254-2024 or scanned and emailed to office [at] sethazria.com. As we are dedicated to prompt client communication, chances are that you will speak to an attorney immediately or be called back very soon thereafter.
After we are retained, here is an outline of the process:
1. We send a letter to the court stating that we represent you. If your court date is coming soon we will request an adjournment. Courts typically adjourn cases for several weeks at a time. For most traffic violations, you will not ever have to appear in court. If you are charged with a misdemeanor, i.e. Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, you will have to appear in court.
2. We then meet with the prosecutor to negotiate an outcome for your ticket. These negotiations result in a disposition for your ticket, typically a reduction of the charge or a dismissal.
3. We then inform you of that disposition and if you consent, we send the proposed disposition to the court.
4. If the court agrees, it will dismiss the ticket or enter the agreed plea to the reduced charge and issue a fine.
5. We then send the court's fine notice to you for payment. Court fines are not included in the legal fee.
Most all of this can be handled by mail, fax, phone and email.
The entire process usually takes about 4-8 weeks and we will let know as soon as anything happens in your case that requires your attention. In the typical case, the first time we contact you will be after we have a proposed disposition requiring your consent.
And, of course, we are always here to answer any questions or concerns you may have in the meantime.
